The importance that cows rest long enough is well known to everyone. This improves blood circulation in the udder, effective rumination, less stress on the hoofs, drier paws, less lameness, less stress, and so on. But how do you improve the free stalls in existing stables, where space is often limited?
Since seven years there are flexible cubicles for dairy cattle on the market. These cubicles are much less rigid than traditional boxes, and at the same time guide the animals to stand up in the box and lie down straight and correctly. Flexible cubicles are slowly but surely gaining popularity.
Practical experience shows that the cows stand up and lie down faster and easier in a flexible box. During lying down, cows dare to sink much deeper through their paws. The flexibele freestall is clearly perceived as less disturbing than the traditional freestall. This applies both to deep litter as the cow mattress. Big cows can take more space while lying down with flexible freestalls. Their back part of their body rolls better so the cow will rest in a position where there is less weight on their heels. This results in an improved blood flow in the legs while lying down and less damaged heels.
As more cows are resting better and longer, this will create more space for other cows who make their round to the feed, water and / or robot. And that is exactly what you need in the barn.
When renovating a barn, flexible freestalls are a good alternative. You will see the utilization of the cubicles is improved.

Start-Up Boost Bolus receives an innovation award at Space Exhibtion
Agriprom received an important recognition for her Start Up Boost Bolus. Every year a specialized jury determines the most important innovation in different product fields. The Start Up Boost Bolus received the award because this method to prevent calcium deficiencies is unique in its kind. It allows the cow to increase the level of calcium in the blood from its own metabolism.
The preventive solution for milk fever
Slow release bolus for high pregnant cows, stays active for a long time in the rumen. The active substances help with the absorption and regulation of calcium and magnesium. This bolus helps to prevent milk fever. Because of its mass the bolus stays in the rumen where it slowly releases 1,25-dihydroxyvitamine D3 glycoside. This active form of vitamin D3 is easily absorbed by the gut. This form of vitamin D3 is already active and doesn’t have to be activated by the liver or kidney. Its helps with the absorption and regulation of calcium and magnesium. This bolus is administered 2 days before the expected calf moment and delivers Calcitrol to the cow in a period of 10 days. This allows the cow to increase the level of calcium in the blood from its own metabolism. The efficacy of Calcitrol for use in dairy cows against dairy disease is endorsed, among other things, in an EFSA report (European food safety authority)

Gel mattress shows excellent results in DLG test
Frankfurt – The new gel mattress of Agriprom has also proven itself in the DLG tests and can therefore bear the title “DLG–Approved”.
Dairy farmers demand a cow mattress to show only minimal distortion and wear after a period of 10 years and, moreover, to remain highly comfortable. Independent research from DLG simulates these requirements by subjecting the gel mattress to 100 000 impressions of a robot hoof that simulates a cow of 1000 kg. The results show that there is no wear and no permanent deformation. The compressibility is substantially unchanged so the gel mattress can call itself extremely comfortable. Click here for more information about the gel mattress.
The cows at the Dairy Campus in Leeuwarden enjoy allready quite some time of the gel mattress of Agriprom.
